
SHUBMAN GILL etched his name in record books by registering the highest score of the Indian captain in the test cricket. He reached a milestone on the 2nd day of the second test against Ben Stokes in England, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The 25 -year -old Fazil exceeded 254*Virata Kohli, who came against South Africa in 2019 at the ARUN Jaitley stadium in Nový Delhí.

With this click, Gill also became only the sixth Indian captain, who won a double century in the test cricket – connected with the list of the elite list of Virat Kohli, Mrs. Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Among them Kohli – who left the tests in May – leads a graph with seven double hundred years.

Earlier in his knocking, Gill etched his name in record books By exceeding Kohli’s seven -year record for the highest test score by Indian captain in Edgbaston. Kohli set the previous scale in 2018 with a bold 149 in a narrow 31-running defeat in England, which has smashed Sachin Tendulkar from 1996 since 1996. Now, seven years later, Gill raised the bar with its own.
In the past on day 1, Gill became only the fifth Indian body that won the test century in Edgbaston and joined the elite list, which includes Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravindra Jadeja. He also became only the second Indian captain, who registered 150-plus scores in the test match on English soil, in the footsteps of Mohammad Azharuddin.
Gill was in noble form in the whole series and in consecutive matches it recorded a century. In the first shifts in Headingley in Leeds, he started a tour of 147, although India eventually did not reach 31 runs. After recently taken over the captain of the test from Rohit Sharma, who left the format, Gill already makes a powerful statement in his new role.
