A tree on North Public Square Road in Basavanagudi was uprooted after heavy rain, hail and strong winds in Bengaluru evening, in Bengaluru on April 29, 2026. The rain on April 29 caused extensive damage to public property in Bengaluru.
The JP Nagar police have registered an FIR against officials of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) following the electrocution death of a 34-year-old shoemaker near a bus stand in Bengaluru during heavy rain on April 29 evening.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s sister, the police invoked Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide) and started further investigation.
