The revival of the monsoon in the Cauverry and Cabini river basins and the subsequent release of water from the Kishnaraja Sagar and Cabini reservoirs, which are full, brought the visual beauty of the famous Shivanasamundra waterfalls alive. The waterfalls are about 75 km from Mysur and about 130 km from Bengalur.

Both crashes are known as “bluff”. In recent days, tourist legs have increased due to a substantial water growth released from Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) and cabini tanks upstream.
The Cauvera River, which meanders along the rocky terrain, is divided into two branches that carve the island of the river, named Shivanasamudra before plunging into the gorge with a deafening roar in two places.
The western branch is Gaganachukki in Malavalli Taluk from the Mandya district. The eastern branch is Bharachukki in Kollegal Taluk from the Chamarajanagar district. Bharachukki is 1.2 km from Dargah, on the other side of the view of Gaganachukki.
Historically, the falls tend to be a holiday for the eyes when the combined drain from the KRS tank and the cabini is between 1 to 1.5 Lakh Cusecs.
While the combined release from both tanks was 27 and 28 July 28 exceeding 1.2 Lakh Cusecs, noon on July 29 to approximately 80,000 CUSECS. Figure 30.
However, the decrease in the release of water from the tanks did not reduce the visual splendor of the waterfalls. The pure vertical drop of water from a height of about 90 meters, or about 300 feet, in Gaganachukki to a horseshoe in the shape below, creates fog and foam that rises to almost 60 meters or almost 200 feet, which provides a breathtaking view.
With both reservoirs full and more rain forecasts until August, the tide to two dams is likely to increase the next days, resulting in an adequate increase in outflow.
This will ensure a larger flow in the river and add to the grandeur of Shivanasamudry, where the waterfalls have already added traction to the monsoon tourism this year.
Local sellers release tea, coffee and refreshments in Gaganachukki and who earn more income during monsoon tourism, an increase in the number of tourists on weekends, especially from Bengalur and Mysur, except for the nearby regions.
” So far, the legs have been encouraging due to the large release of water from the tanks, “said a local seller in Gaganachukki.
In August 2024, Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah spoke of Lanoway in Bharachukki while inaugurations Jalapatothsava. While the concept is still on paper, the participating parties in the tourism industry believe that there is room for supporting adventure in conjunction with monsoon tourism.
