Shivamogga District Police has appealed to the public to ensure their safety by following the traffic rules and said that they have introduced e-challan system through Intelligent Traffic Management System.
In a press release on Sunday, the district police said that from April 1, police officers will stop traffic violators within police limits and issue fines to them immediately. In addition, the police issue e-challans by capturing photos of traffic violators using GPS cameras. The district police has installed automatic number plate recognition cameras at various locations to identify traffic violators.
The police advised the motorists to follow the rules strictly and also appealed to them to clear the outstanding e-challan fines. Motorists can cancel pending fines at any police station or pay e-challan to traffic police personnel who carry personal digital assistants (PDAs).
