Member of Parliament BY Raghavendra directed Shivamogga district administration officers to resolve the issues related to notification of forest areas under consideration and grant permission for road laying and permission for installation of BSNL towers in parts of Bharangi hobli, Sagar taluk.
Mr. Raghavendra met officials on Thursday following complaints received during public consultation meetings in the taluk.
The MP directed police officers to identify land suitable for community service before notifying the forest area under consideration. He pointed out that many of the Bagar Hukum cultivators’ applications for land grants were pending with the government. Notifying the deemed forest without resolving the pending claims would put the cultivators in trouble, he said, and directed the officials to ensure that no farmer is harmed.
Mr. Raghavendra directed the officials to start the process of acquiring forest stands for the construction of rural roads across the taluk. He noted that many villages in the taluk lacked proper road connectivity. He also asked the officers to submit proposals to ensure road and power supply to villages including Kanurkote, Bheemeshwar, Urulgallu, Meghane and Muppane.
MP reviewed the progress of BSNL tower installation in Bharangi hobli.
Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Chief Conservator of Forests KT Hanumanthappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner V Abhishek and senior officials of the forest department were present.
