Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra held a meeting with district-level officers here on January 3 and reviewed the progress of development works, including railway and road expansion projects.
The MP reviewed the progress of four-lane NH 206 (Tumakuru – Shivamogga – Honnavar), railway bridge at Hosur and Talaguppa, four-lane road connecting Nellisara Camp to Tirthahalli (NH 169) and bridge at Bikkodi on Byndoor-Ranebennur Road (NH).
He also reviewed the progress of four-lane road in Sagar Town (NH 206) and Shikaripur bypass.
In addition, the MP suggested that police officers should start construction of skywalks at major locations in the city where pedestrians find it difficult to cross the road due to heavy traffic.
Regarding the railway line connecting Shivamogga and Ranebennur via Shikaripur, the MP said land acquisition between Shivamogga and Shikaripur has been completed. However, land acquisition between Shikaripur and Ranebennur is still in progress. The state government has promised to release ₹45 crore for the project within a week.
Deputy Commissioner Shivamogga Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Chief Conservator of Forests KT Hanumanthappa, Superintendent of Police Nikhil B and others were present in the meeting.
