The stall set up by the Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board here on February 7 at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises was well received.

The initiative was taken in connection with the recent circular of the Karnataka Chief Secretary encouraging government employees to wear khadi products on the first Saturday of every month. The government issued this circular to promote local, green and sustainable rural industries. Shivamogga Charaka Gramodyoga Sahakara Sangha exhibited its products.

The employees of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and neighboring offices visited the stall and purchased the clothes. While some bought tailored garments, many chose clothing materials. Many female employees asked about the sarees.

The board has set up the stall after consulting officials of the Karnataka State Government Employees Association. The association directed its officials and members to purchase khadi garments from the stall.
