The district administration of Shivamogg has identified 19 villages spread over nine gram Panchayats to be included in the Shivamogg City Corporation area. Before the decision on this issue, he decided to acquire the opinion of elected representatives and the public.
Representative of the Commissioner Gurudatt Hegade, on Tuesday, arranged a meeting with officers who feared in Shivamogg. He ordered officers to gather opinions from all participants within 15 days and present a message. DC convened a meeting after the recommendation of the Commission for Administrative Reforms. The Commission recommended to get villages under the ambition of the closest city local authorities.
Up to 19 villages on a gram of Panchays of Abblageys, Kotegangur, Muddinakoppa, Melina Hanasvadi, Gondi Chattnahali, Nidige, Machenahali, Arakere, Agasavalli were identified. The corporation area has not been extended over the past 20 years. Many residential layouts under Corporation Lims have developed throughout the city.
Their restrictions below the corporation boundary were necessary in order to provide basic equipment in new areas. With the inclusion of identified villages, the population within the limits of corporation would increase by 35,000. According to the census in 2011, the population in the area of corporation was 3.22 lakh. The population was assumed that in 2021 it would be around 4.22 lakh, DC said.
