Deputy Commissioner Shivamogg Gurudatt Hegade issued a notice prohibiting the movement of heavy vehicles via Balebare Ghat (Hulikal Ghat) to Tirthahalli-Kundapura State Highway 52 due to a landslide in the region.
The depth commissioner said in the announcement issued on Wednesday that in Ghat after heavy rains in the last week of this year there was a landslide after heavy rains. Since then, repairs have been underway. However, the ongoing heavy rains of the region could potentially lead to other landslides.
The executive engineer of the Public Work Department (Shivamogga Division) asked the Commissioner to ban heavy vehicles on the section between Mastikatte and Hosangadi to avoid any undesirable incident. Officers of the Regional Transport Office in Shivamogg and the Superintendent Police of Shivamogg also submitted a report proposing alternative routes for heavy vehicles.
Vehicles that use the Tirthi-Kanugod-Mastikatte-Haulikal Ghat-Hosangadi-Siddapra-Kundapura-Kundapura before, can now get to the destination through the Tirthahahali-Rest-Kanugudududa-Kindapura route.
Similarly, these vehicles that have Tirthahalli Yadur-Sulagod-Haulikal Ghat-Siddapura-Kundapura can take the alternative path of Tirthahali Yadur-Mastikatte-Kanugududu-Nagara-Kundapura.
In addition, vehicles that use Shivamogg/Sagar-Hulikal Ghat-Hosangadi-Siddapura-Kundapura, reach Honnavary and conversion to Kundapura via Bhatkal and Byndoor, the announcement said.
