
Shiv Pratap Shukla, who is currently serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana.
He replaces Jishnu Dev Varma, who served as the Governor of Telangana. Mr Varma will now take charge of Maharashtra in the latest changes announced by President Droupadi Murmu.
Mr. Shukla served as Minister of State for Finance in the Narendra Modi government from 2017 to 2019. He represented Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha from July 2016 to July 2022.
He won four consecutive terms as MLA from Gorakhpur City constituency from 1989. He held various ministerial portfolios in the Uttar Pradesh government, including rural development, prisons and basic education.
