The job fair held at Shikaripur on Friday received an impressive response. 83 companies participated in the fair, which attracted over 2,000 job seekers.
Organized jointly by Swami Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe and Alva’s Education Foundation to celebrate the birthday of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the event was held at Kumudvathi College of Education in the city.
Member of Parliament BY Raghavendra, who inaugurated the fair, greeted the job seekers and suggested them to believe in their strengths and pursue their dream careers. The fair will serve as a platform for the youth to turn their aspirations into reality, he said.
He urged applicants to develop skills that will enhance their employability. The MP also appealed to the companies participating in the fair to ensure the selected candidates a salary sufficient for a dignified life.
Shikaripur MLA and BJP state president BY Vijayendra, who presided over the function, said that as an elected representative of the constituency, it was his dream to provide job opportunities for the rural youth. A job fair, organized to offer opportunities for local talent, was the beginning of realizing his dream.
Former Malnad Area Development Board Chairman KS Gurumurthy and others were present.
