The head of the Congress and MP Sabha Shashi Tharoor on Monday expressed strong concerns about the Air India Express plan to reduce flights connecting more cities in Kerala. Tharoor criticized this step and said that Air India “must stop treating keral as an additional thoughtful”.
Air India Express is a budget airline operated under the Air India Group owned by Tata.

“I wrote on @Airindia MD Campbell Wilson to express my deep concern about the news about the extensive cancellations of @AirindiaExpress from Kerala airports in the upcoming winter schedule.
Tharoor, which represents the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, said that Kerala is one of the busiest aerial nodes in the country, with extremely high international passenger transport, especially in the Gulf.
Any shortening services at this stage will inevitably cause serious problems for migrating workers, students, tourists and families, while hindering trade and tourism and claiming that Air India must stop treating as with support.
“… Getting the services of a business class on the longest one -time flight in India (Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram) has already added an insult to injuries,” he added.
There was no immediate comment from the Air India Group.
The winter schedule of planned flights, which must be officially announced by Aviation Regulator DGCA, has begun since the end of October.
According to Tharoor, if Air India continues to ignore Keral’s interests, Indigo and Akasa Air are waiting in the wings “and many of us will not have any concentration on changing our loyalty to those who pay attention to us”.
“I publicly described @Airindii as my favorite airline. But when the facts change, opinions can also change. I hope all participants will pay due attention to.
As my favorite airline, I publicly welcomed @Airindii. But when the facts change, opinions can also change.
Previously, the opposition leader (LOP) in the legislative Assembly of Keral, VD Satheesan, also raised similar concerns and wrote the Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarap Rammohan Naid and demand that Kerala receive his “legitimate share” of flight services.
