Sharnbasva University honored three eminent personalities with honorary doctorates during its seventh convocation held at Mantap Dr. Sharanabasappa Appa Anubhava in Kalaburagi.
Honorary degrees were conferred by 9th Peetadipathi of Sharnbasveshwar Samsthan and Chancellor of Sharnbasva University, Dakshayini S. Appa, along with Doddappa Appa. The awardees were Krishi Pandit Award winner and head of Shri Guru Channaveereshwar Virakta Matha, Muttyan Bablad, Gurupadalinga Mahashivayogi; Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society President and MLC, Shashil G. Namoshi; and Sajjada Nasheen of Hazrath Khaja Banda Nawaz Dargah, Syed Muhammad Ali Al-Hussaini. A third honorary doctorate was awarded in absentia.
Gold medals and awards
For the first time, the University introduced two special cash awards and gold medals in the name of the late Dr. Sharnbaswappa Appa for the overall best male and female graduates.
Simra Nishath Bandenawaz Kalakeri secured the first rank in Masters Mathematics with an excellent 9.95 CGPA while Rahul stood first in BTech (Mechanical) with 9.76 CGPA. Both received a prize money of ₹21,000, a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.
Dr. Dakshayini S. Appa presiding over the convocation awarded gold medals and rank certificates to 199 deserving students including 45 gold medalists and conferred PhD degrees. 21 scientific workers. In addition to these, five more cash prizes awarded in the names of important personalities were given out.
Dr. In her presidential address, Dakshhayini Appa recalled the visionary efforts of late 8th Mahadasoh Peetadhipathi and Founder Chancellor Sharnbasappa Appa in empowering the region through quality education and realizing his lifelong dream of establishing Sharnbasva University.
Congratulating the graduates, she said the convocation marked the beginning of their true professional journey and urged them to strive for excellence while contributing to nation building. She also expressed pride in the university’s women-centric approach, noting that female students have outperformed their male counterparts in ranks and gold medals.
Vice Chancellor Anilkumar Bidve welcomed the gathering.
