Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) slammed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for what she called a malicious campaign against her father, late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and her grandfather YS Raja Reddy.

“Why didn’t TDP investigate or take action against them when they were in power before if the allegations were real?” posted on X, accusing the ruling coalition of indulging in “cheap politics” to distract from governance failures. She said that even after two years in office, the government has not shown any significant achievements.

YSR’s father and Raja Reddy’s grandfather are not in this world. TDP for those who cannot afford it @JaiTDP The bad propaganda being done has exposed their political agenda. If they are really that bad, then why was there no investigation when the Telugu Desam was in power? Why not punished? can’t you

Ms. Sharmila described Raja Reddy as a leader who stood by the poor in Rayalaseema and listed his contributions including establishing a 70-bed hospital in Kadapa in 1973 and setting up educational institutions that provided free medical care and education to underprivileged students.

She said the landmark schemes like Aarogyasri, fee refund, loan waiver and free electricity reflect YSR’s vision. He was also credited with starting the Polavaram project and completing 33% of the work within five years.
