On Sunday, the President of the Congress Committee Andhra Pradesh (APCC) accused the Central Government led by the BJP of the dilution of the law on the right to information (RTI), which originally enacted the Congress Government in 2005.

Sharmila claimed that the administration systematically weakened the RTI frame through changes that reduced its effectiveness, in particular by limiting access to personal and political information and undermining institutional independence.
It emphasized the importance of the law and described RTI as “courage of civic courage”, a symbol of transparency in administration, and one of the most important legal regulations that have passed after crushing the Constitution. “It seized citizens and made a responsible government and described a revolutionary step in Indian democracy,” she said.
Mrs. Sharmila, who pointed out the outages in the implementation of the law, noted that the Central Information Commission (CIC) works without a chief and does not lack a complete supplement. Since 2024, more than four Lakh RTI applications have remained throughout the country, reflecting, reflecting how the system has been limited.
On the 20th anniversary of the RTI Act, the Congress Party required the abolition of amendments in 2019 and the restoration of the five -year term of office for information commissioners. He also called on the restoration of commissions autonomy, the appointment of all 11 members, the strict implementation of the Act on the Protection of the Notifiers and the appropriate representation of journalists, women and academics in commissions.
