The day after the lawsuit was to be attacked to attack the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Sharjeel Imam activist withdrew on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) from the court in Delhi.
Attorney Ahmad Ibrahim, a lawyer representing Mr. Imam, submitted the judge of the court of other sessions (asj) Sameer Bajpai that his client’s regular action was before the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court would be a “correct” forum that would also file an interim relief.
The court allowed an application for a withdrawal submitted by a lawyer.
Mr. Imam, who has been submitted in Tihar for more than five years, submitted a preliminary bail on Monday. The reason said he wanted to attack the Bihar elections as an independent candidate. Police in Delhi caused an unlawful law on the prevention of activities (UAPA) against Imam in the case of riots in Delhi.
The activist said that there was no one in his family or his friends to take care of his nomination and campaign for the elections. His younger brother takes care of his sick mother and provides the family, said Mr. Imam.
From October 15 to October 29, he was looking for bail as a process of filing nomination documents for 18. Election elections in Bihar legislative Assembly ends on October 20.
Last month, Mr. Imam was rejected by a regular bail in the case of Delhi by the Delhi High Court.
