Jawaharlal scholar Neshru University (JNU) Sharjeel Imam, accused of a greater conspiracy related to the northeast Delhi Riots 2020, approached Dillím on Monday (October 13, 2025) to attach to Bihar for two weeks.
Mr. Imam, reserved according to strict illegal activities (prevention) (prevention) (UAPA) by the police in Delhi and stored in Tihar prison for more than five years, is waiting for trial.
He applied for an interim bail before the next judge (ASJ) Sameer Bajpai from the courts of Kardardoom for attacking the elections as an independent candidate from the Bahadurganj seat. In the request, Mr. Imam said he was a “political prisoner and a student activist” and is willing to attack public opinion surveys from his home state Bihar.
“…. It should be noted that the applicant competes as an independent candidate and is not associated with any political party. There is no one to take care of and agree for his nomination and campaign for the election, with the exception of his younger brother, who is currently taking care of his sick mother and providing his family.”
He was looking for bail from 15 to 29 October and stressed that the process of filing nomination documents for 18. Elections in Bihar Legislative Assembly is scheduled to start on October 13 and the last date for that is 20 October.
It is therefore necessary for the applicant to be present in his competition election district to submit his nomination and take the necessary measures for his election campaign.
Last month, Mr. Imam was rejected by a regular bail in the case of Delhi by the Delhi High Court.
His appeal against this order awaits before the Supreme Court.
