Each month, Shakeology co-creators Isabelle Daikeler and Darin Olien meet with our research and development (R&D) team to evaluate the current formula and identify potential improvements.
Key factors driving formula updates include:
- Ingredient Quality: We rigorously test our suppliers’ ingredients for contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals, and more. Our standards are so high that some suppliers reserve their best crops for us. If a supplier can’t meet our quality requirements, we find a new source or remove the ingredient altogether.
- Scientific Evidence: As research reveals new insights into nutrients and their health benefits, we incorporate these findings into our formula. Unlike many companies, Shakeology conducts clinical studies to better understand and enhance our product’s health benefits.
- Consumer Feedback: We take customer satisfaction seriously. Feedback on taste, texture, or benefits can lead to adjustments in the formula.
Recent Updates to the Shakeology Formula
Shakeology Original: Our latest formula update for original Shakeology occurred in 2019 for vegan flavors and 2020 for whey-based flavors.
This update removed oat protein, chia, and sacha inchi, and added more probiotics, dietary fiber, flaxseed, and matcha to address concerns about potential contaminants in certain ingredients.
