West Indies has appointed a strong 15-member group for their upcoming six ODI Tour matches in Europe, while the seasoned beras battery Shai Hope continued as a captain. The Caribbean side will accept Ireland and England in three ODIs, every month, the series is a major step in their preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Squad includes a solid core of experienced doughs in Brandon King, Evin Lewis and Keacy Carty, while the 19-year-old Andrew-A Standout artist at 2024 ICC U-19’s Men’s Cricket won the World Cup. Shimron Hetmyer, however, is missing when it remains connected to IPL with Rajasthan Royals.
Squad is largely similar to the group, which at the end of last year registered a series of 3-0 series over Bangladesh, followed by the impressive victory of the domestic series against England. The head coach Daren Sammy is optimistic about maintaining momentum because the team is working to build consistency before the next World Cup that will host South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
“These matches form a critical component towards the World Championship in 2027, and there are signs of the consistency of the team building after sweeping the series against Bangladesh and victory over England at the end of last year,” Sammy said.
“We expect the conditions to be challenging, but we create culture and thinking that emphasizes the play of a cricket brand that brings us to some of our overall goals.”
In addition to the team announcement, West Indies cricket confirmed changes in coaching settings. The former 2012 World Cup winner Ravi Rampaul replaces James Franklin as a coach of bowling. Irish cricket legend Kevin O’Brien will also join the group in a supportive role during matches against Ireland.
