Indian cricketers Shafali Verma and Renuka Singh have made significant gains in the latest ICC rankings after outstanding performances in the Women’s T20I series against Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththa.
Shafali climbed four places to No. 6 among women’s batsmen after her match-winning 79 off 46 balls, leading India highest ever women’s T20I total of 221 for two in the fourth T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum on Sunday, December 28.
India sealed victory by 30 runs. The right-hander is now just 60 points behind Australia’s top batsman Beth Mooney. Smriti Mandhana remained at No.3 with Harmanpreet Kaur at No.15.
Meanwhile, Renuka has jumped eight places to No. 7 in the T20I bowlers’ rankings. Temper, who replaced Arundhati Reddy in the playing eleven, took figures of 4 for 21 in the third T20I to help India clinch the series with an impressive eight-wicket win.
Shafali’s impact went beyond her heroics in the fourth game. In the four games of the ongoing series, the Haryana batsman has amassed 236 runs at an amazing average of 118 and a strike rate of 185.82, accounting for three half-centuries in a series-dominant display.
