The Students Federation of India (SFI) has demanded that the concerned authorities start the admission process for the candidates who have qualified in the Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test (APRCET).
In a statement presented to Joint Director TV Srikrishna Murthy at Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) office, state vice-president of the federation Ravi and state assistant secretary Akbar pointed out that APRCET written examinations were conducted from November 3 to November 7, 2025, followed by declaration of results on December 15, 2025.
The interviews were held from February 2 to February 6, 2026 and the rank cards were issued on February 25, 2026. However, even after a month of the release of the rank cards, there was no clarity regarding the filling of seats, leading to serious apprehensions among the students, they said.
They pointed out that in the absence of clear information, students were forced to wait months for the admission process to be completed. As the academic year was already nearing its end, the delay was likely to have an adverse impact on the academic future of the students, they said.
They said many students who qualified through R-CET were at risk of losing scholarships and other academic and job opportunities. Students aspiring for PhD programs through R-SET were already experiencing mental stress due to uncertainty. They warned that they would launch phased protests if the PhD admissions were not completed on time.
Responding to the issue, the Joint Director said that the delay in the admission of PhD students was due to the issuance of Higher Education GO No. 3 and that the matter was currently under the purview of the newly constituted Higher Education Commission.
