The condemnation of what they called retrograde and dangerous policy of the mining of state and trade union governments will be various organizations of protest in Ballari 16 August.
On Thursday, Perspersons in Hubball, President of the National Natural Resources Committee (NCPNR) and Citizens for Democracy (CFD) SR Hiremath said they would require effective steps to alleviate the suffering of people affected by mining. They will also strive to reduce the annual mining ceiling to 20 million tonnes.
Mr. Hiremath Said That The Joint Action Committee of Mining-Affected People Was Alrees formed During and Meeting in Ballari on June 1. Subsequently, Like-Minded Organoisations, Including Janandolan Maha Maitri, CFD and JPJPS Environment), Conduited Jathas in All the Four mining-affected districts of Ballari, Vijayanagar, Chitradurga and Tumacuru to sensitize the population to common problems affecting their lives due to continuing mining and need to start unified struggles.
Before the Protest of Mega 16th August, Jathas will be transported to villages affected by mining villages between 1 and 4 August and will be created district committees for project preparation. The organizations will call everyone to like -minded organizations that work on the cause of people to connect with them to protest Mega, he said.
Asked by Mr Hirath, he pointed out that despite the fact that the Supreme Court was taking a hard attitude against indiscriminate mining, state and trade union governments managed to increase the annual ceiling for mining and now wanted to increase it to 57 million tons.
Former judge of the Supreme Court B. Sudarshan Reddy, who was appointed by the Supreme Court as a body for the supervision of the comprehensive environmental plan for the mining impact zone (CEPMIZ), recommended that it reduces it to 20 million tons for four districts.
Mr Hirath said that JMM, CFD and NCPNR welcome the state government’s decision to cancel the process of obtaining land in Devanahali. It is a historical victory for farmers Devanahalli and Samyukta Horata-Karnataka, who led agitation. Farmers and organizations, however, will have to be more vigilant because the war is not over.
