
In a tragic incident, a bus stopped in central Stockholm on Friday, killing several people, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.
The driver of the said bus has been arrested and the incident is being investigated as an involuntary manslaughter, police said.
The incident happened near the Royal Institute of Technology. However, it was not clear if it was an accident as there was no information to suggest it was an attack.
The police did not disclose the number of victims and the number of injured.
Police said they would not comment on the number, gender or age of those killed or injured, Reuters reported.
“We don’t yet know the cause of this, but right now my thoughts are first and foremost with those affected and their families,” Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in a post on X.
“We can confirm that there has been an accident,” Sophie Gunnarsson, a spokeswoman for public transport group SL, said in Swedish, according to the British Mirror.
She added that it is a serious incident and they do not yet know the cause.
“The police are not commenting on the number, gender or age of the victims at this time,” the police write on their website.
