
Several protesters and police officers were injured during the agitation against the WAQF law (amendment) in Kailashhar, at the UNAKoti district in North Tripura, Saturday (April 12, 2025). The central forces were placed in the area after the incident.
Thousands of people took a march in Kailashhar and Sonamura in the district of Sepahajala to demand the abolition of the disputed law.
A firefighting vehicle was damaged at the protest point in the sonamuro. No wounded was injured in the incident.
The voltage broke out in Kailashhahar after the protesters clashed with the police. Several protesters and security workers were injured, but not seriously.
The police lobbied with tears of the shell to distract the protesters. Northern Range Dig Rati Ranjan Debnath and Unakti District SP Kanta Yahangir rushed to Till Bazaar, the main difficulty in Kailahahar to evaluate the situation.

Police officials stated that the central forces were deployed in this area as preventive measures. The District Administration imposed a section 163 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita to limit the movement of people.
Protests against the newly enacted WAQF law have taken place in the last three days throughout the state. These are held under the auspices of the “Nagoric Committee” (Civic Committee), which has support from opposition CPI (M) and congress.
