Seventeen people have been arrested in Nalgonda district in connection with the illegal sale and consumption of opioid-based tablets, including Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus and Tramadol (Ultra King).
The arrests came after a joint operation by EAGLE Force, Nalgonda Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration uncovered a network involved in the illicit trade in prescription drugs.
On Monday, officials conducted vehicle checks near Munugode Road in Nalgonda and arrested Md. Zabinullu, 35, son of Hafeezulla, a refrigerator mechanic from Nalgonda, who was transporting narcotic tablets on a two-wheeler. Zabinulla admitted to an addiction to Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus and revealed that he had been illegally buying and selling the tablets for three months. He obtained each strip of eight tablets for ₹100 from Venkata Ramana Medical Store at Thorrur in Mahabubabad district and sold them locally for ₹200 per strip.
Investigation revealed that the health shop owned by Daram Krishna Sai, 30, was selling Schedule H1 drugs without valid prescriptions or keeping statutory records, in violation of the NDPS Act and Drug Control Rules. The drug inspector seized the store along with its inventory and records and revoked its license.
The arrested persons were identified as Md. Zabinulla, 35, Daram Krishna Sai, 30, supplier and consumers Junaid, 26, Ahmed Abdul Hafeez, 41, Shaik Owaiz, 31, Shaik Afroz, 26, Md. Javid, Mazid, Ameer, Ubed, Shaab Salman, As, Kumarnus Wasim who was both consumer and trader.
The seized items include 2,400 Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus tablets, 345 Tramadol Ultra King tablets, two mobile phones and one motorcycle. All the seized items and arrestees were handed over to Nalgonda Town Police Station I and a case was registered under Section 22(C), 27(a) and Section 29 of the NDPS Act (CR No. 292/2025).
Officials said all consumers are referred to a de-addiction center under Section 64A of the NDPS Act, which provides immunity from prosecution to addicts who voluntarily seek treatment. Families of users are informed and counseled to support recovery and prevent relapse.
