Seven persons were booked after Vigilance and Enforcement officials intercepted tractors carrying sand illegally during a surprise route check in parts of Hanamkonda district on Wednesday.
Officials seized seven tractors and around 35 tonnes of sand worth around ₹35,000 during the operation in the suburbs of Jujnoor Vagu and Dandepally. The value of the vehicles is estimated to be around ₹28 crore. Investigators found that sand is mined during the day, piled up in nearby fields and transported illegally at night.
