Seven Maoist militia members from Chhattisgarh and a Maoist courier surrendered before Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district on Saturday (January 24).
According to police, the seven surrendered militia members hail from Gampur village in Bijapur district of neighboring Chhattisgarh. They were active in the Dandakaranya forest region bordering Telangana.
Among those who surrendered is 33-year-old Dharmaji Srikanth, a “courier” of the banned outfits.
He worked as a ‘courier’ to senior Maoist leaders – Kankanala Raji Reddy, Azad and Damodar. He hails from Itikyal village of Velgatur mandal in Jagtial district.
