Long fight
It is the result of a long struggle that began in 2013, said clifton d’a Asario from BBMP Pozarmikar Sangh. “On the recommendation of the Chandrashekhar Committee report, it was created in 2013 and our struggle demanded its implementation in full, the then congress government decided to regulate in 2016.
Collectors of sweepers and waste worked until 2016 until 2016, in the middle of charges of double invoicing and abuse of funds. BBMP introduced a biometric authentication of all porakarmikas, which reduced numbers from 32,000 to approximately 18,000. Unlike the cabinet decision, these sweepers were brought under the PCB and received minimum wages, problems and other facilities such as EPF, remuneration and health insurance.
“As we continued to fight for the regularization of their services and brought waste collectors on roles, the BJP government led by Bommai has created a Committee under the (IAS officer) of Rrakesh Singh to formulate the regulation of their services.
