Deputy Main Minister and Minister of Development Bengalur DK Shivakumar said on Monday that service roads on the busy outer circular road (ORR) between Hebbal and Silk Board will be merged with the main road to alleviate overload until the construction of the metro on the road is completed. He looked at the area on Monday.
“The merger of service roads with the main roads by removing the dividers will help facilitate smoother traffic flow,” the minister said.
The decision comes as a result of the construction of the metro, which occupies a significant part of the road space and disrupting the movement of the vehicle.
This step is governed by recent meetings with officials from larger Bengalur, where it was decided to take measures across 40-50 km of the section affected areas. “DCM also led a discussion with several urban MLAs before they arrived at this decision,” he added from his office.
“When metro work across the key sections of the city is underway, traffic muddy has become routine, especially during the top hours. The integration of service roads is expected to temporarily increase the width of the road and offer relief to the commuting,” BBMP said.
