The Pattabhipuram police closed the usual cyber fraud for the alleged cheating of the Rice Mill owner of almost 1 crore by impersonating police and tax officials.
The head of the Guntur district district (SP) Vacul Jindal said at a press conference on Tuesday that the accused Chaitanya Krishna Pawan (27), a resident of the Bapatla district, contacted a victim from various telephone numbers that asked the police officer. The accused then demanded money to solve the problem.
Later, who, as an income tax officer using another number, threatened that the rice mill would be attacked by suspicious transactions unless a bribe was paid. The victim was afraid of the consequences, transferred almost to crore 1 to bank accounts set out by the accused.
The investigation revealed that the fraudster previously participated in several similar crimes. In 2022, he cheated on a man in Hyderabad of 1.7 GBP Lakh and was arrested by Cyberabad Crime Police. Between 2024 and 2025, several people in Hyderabad and Nizamabad cheated amounts ranging from £ 17,000 to £ 20.
SP also explained that the accused often called the victims who pretended to be a woman and blackmail them later by calling from various figures that a police officer. The accused was involved in several computer crimes and other details would be determined in the investigation, added file.
