The entire sequencing of the genome (WGS) of COVID-19 samples has shown that the infection was caused by an existing variant of the OMicron SARS-COV-2 and its subneagers, said TS Selvavinyagam, public health director and preventive medicine.
The trunks that are currently in circulation are omicron and its subvariants. He stressed that it did not cause any virulent infections.
In the video report published by the Directorate on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) Selvavinyagam said that the current situation of Covid-19 in the State was continuously monitored through the integrated information platform. From now on, 10 to 15 cases COVID-19 have been reported in the state daily.
