
Senior Kannada writer, critic and folklore scholar Mogalli Ganesh died on Sunday morning (October 5, 2025) in his residence in Hosapete in the district of Vijayanagara. He was 63 years old. His wife and three daughters survived him.

Professor Mogalli has suffered more organ diseases over the past few years and has been hospitalized several times for treatment. He was recently brought home and was under the care of his family members.
Professor Mogalli, born July 1, 1962, in Santemogenohall in the Taluk channel from the Ramanagar district, came from the Dalit family and increased as one of the most original votes of Karnataka in literature and folklore studies. He held the titles Double Master – one in Economics and the other in folklore – and won Ph.D. For his research into the development of the Carnataka deity culture.

For nearly 28 years he worked as a professor at the Department of Folklore Studies at Kannada University in Hampi and was in the hanger district in the Hair Region Syndicate at Karnataka Folklore University.
Professor, Professor Mogalli, wrote works across several literary forms, including short stories, novels, games and critical essays. His main collections of short stories include Bugri (1992), Atte (1998), Bhoomi (2002), Manna (2004), Kannemale (2010), Mogalli Kathegal (2010) and Devara Dari (2017). His Noovely includes Tottilu (2006), Kireta (2007), Anadi (2008), Hokkul (2024), Alli Yaroo Illa (2024) and the Bitta Manushya.
The works of his critical and cultural studies include Deshi (1997), Solu (1998), Dalitaru Matt Jagaticarana (1998), Dalita Kathana (2005), Maukhiqa Kathana (2006) (2007), Adima (2004), Takarau (2008), Ambanadim. Daliticaranagonda Gandhiji (2017), Dalita Janadad (2024), Samskruti Matt Asprusyate (2024), Avyakta Charitre (2010) and Adim Janad (2018).
His streets include Moote (1994), Ottappa (1995), Maara Maaru Desha Maru (1998) and Baligamba (2000). It is modified by several volumes, Intuding Dalits Adhyayan, Deshi Kathana, Hyderabad Karnataka Kathegal, Urida Negilu, Mateeya Bhayavatar and Banner Chitta.
Nanembudu Kinchitt is his autobiography.

His renowned novel Tottil was translated into English as a cradle and released Lincom GmbH in 2018. Several of his short stories were translated into Swedish, German, Polish and many Indian languages and earned a wide reader under Karnataka.
