Police Andhra Pradesh on Monday (June 9, 2025) arrested Komneni Srinivasa Rao, senior journalist working with Sakshi TV, in his residence in Hyderabad and brought him to the guntur.
The arrest was done on the basis of a police complaint filed by Kambappati Sireesha, the leader of Dalit Jac Amaravati Capital Farmers and Rayapudi resident in Thullur Mandal.
“During a live talk show with the program KSR on Sakshi, journalist VVR Krishnam Raju and Komnenini Srinivasa Rao made obscene and harmful comments that Amaravati is not the capital of the gods but prostitutes, and that only AIDS patients live.”
The police said: “This is the case of insulting the modesty of women, promoting and creating hostility between different groups, deliberate and harmful intention to outrage the religious feelings of India citizens and slander women with criminal conspiracy.
Cases Have Been Registred Against the Accused Including Mr. Krishnam Raju, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and Sakshi TV Management Under Section 3 (1) (U) of SC and stove of Atrocities (POA) ACT, 1989, Section 67 of it Act-2008, Section 79 (Word, Gesture or Action Inteneded to Outrage The Modesty of Women) Between Different Groups) and Other Charges including 353 (2), 299, 356 (2), 61 (1) Bharatiya nyaya Sanhit (BNS).
While Mr. Srinivasa Rao was arrested, the police are still on the pursuit of Mr. Krishnam Raja, who is running.
The police refused to reveal more details with regard to security reasons.
