Post Reddit Viral Reddit ruled the debate on culture in the workplace and employee rights in India after the man shared films of messages that exchanged with his boss while he was hospitalized.
According to a user who was published under the Subreddit R/Indianworkplace, they were admitted to the hospital with symptoms of dyspnoea, chest tightness and vomiting. Despite informing his manager early in the morning, he could not report to work, the answers he received, left the Internet stunned.
In the screen, the boss insists that the employee should inform them “at least 3 hours before the timing of the shift”, although the employee explained that they were admitted to the hospital at 7:30 and received only around 9:00.
The conversation is further escalating when the boss asks, “Send me a hospitalization picture ..” and later requires a doctor’s confirmation and release date.
Frustrated, the employee wrote: “I do not feel good and hospitalized, PLS does not give me more stress.”
Since then, the post has become a viral, with many social media users criticizing the lack of empathy displayed by the manager. Several have pointed out how common such attitudes in the workplace in India are expected, where employees are expected to often prefer work during medical emergencies.
The original poster was looking for advice whether this problem should report HR or escalate it to higher management. The Reddit community’s answers were tremendously encouraged to document news and make a formal complaint.
This incident raised wider questions about the well -being of employees, the right to disconnect and the urgent need for more compassionate HR policies at Indian workplaces.
The user commented: “This is cooking my blood, there should be a law where we can complain to the authorities or take legal steps towards societies, unless it fires a person who does all these managers, even if you have pressure from top management, you can still be human to something health.”
Another user wrote: “Stop talking to you the manager. Go to your HR and at the level of skipping. If nothing else is recorded by your managers and will be considered a black sign if the company wants to take it.”
“Escalato/bring it in writing to highlight higher MGMT. It has become the norm for any Dick Harry to make the manager and these colleagues speak/behave/behave nonsensical ways of threatening, disruption, creating chaos in other people’s lives.
