Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday (May 14, 2026) said the Cabinet’s approval for the ₹ 20,667 crore Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)-Dholera Semi High Speed Double Rail Project is a strong testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary goal of transforming the country into an innovation and manufacturing hub.
In a post on X, Mr. Shah said the project will play a key role in establishing Gujarat as a global hub for manufacturing and logistics while creating significant employment.
“It is a great joy for me too that this project will pass through my parliamentary constituency. This 134 km rail line will connect Ahmedabad with Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and Greenfield Industrial Smart City and provide connectivity for Namo Bharat trains,” he said in his post in Hindi.
The home minister added that the project will provide direct connectivity to Dholera International Airport and Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex.
“This ₹20,667 crore project will play an important role in generating employment as well as creating a global manufacturing and logistics hub from Gujarat,” he said.
Mr. Shah also congratulated the people of Nagpur for the cabinet’s decision to modernize and modernize the Nagpur International Airport.
On the Cabinet’s nod to a ₹37,500 crore program to support surface coal and lignite gasification projects, he said it would serve as a new impetus for India’s economic growth.
“It will also speed up the implementation of Modiji’s vision of optimizing our energy capacities and creating 50,000 jobs,” the home minister said.
