The sellers of the ration in Kerala appealed to the center to include more individuals from the “Priority” section under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.
Traders say that an increase in the allocation of food groups is essential for the well -being of people in a state of food deficiency.
In a formal representation for the Minister of Trade Unions for Consumer, Food and Public Distribution Affairs on Thursday, the Association for Retail Traders (Akrrda) stressed that the numerical ceiling for the priority population was based on CRORE 2011. crore.
Priority population
However, the Kerala population is estimated in 2023 that it increased to approximately 3.51 Crore in 2023, which includes a priority population that includes a household card holder (PHH) (PHH), probably also increased to more than 2.5 crore. The acrrda urged to increase the ceiling for the priority section to reflect the growth of the population.
Currently, AAY card holders are entitled to 35 kg of food groups per month, while PHH card holders receive 5 kg per month.
Akrrd President Johny Nelloor and Secretary General T. Muhammedali proposed to increase the monthly assignment of food holders to PHH cards to 8 kg. They also propose that groups of incapacity that currently receive subsidized rations based on availability should be provided at least 15 kg at a slight speed.
Financial tension
In addition to solving concerns about food distribution, acrrda has caused problems concerning the financial burden of retail sellers. The Association claims that the current revenues of sellers are not sufficient to cover their basic expenditure. In such circumstances, they demanded an increase in minimum remuneration to 50,000 GBP per month, along with a commission to 400 GBP per quinttal.
The Association also proposed to establish a benevolent social fund, health insurance, pensions and remuneration for retailers and their sales staff.
