The collection of teachers at self -financing universities associated with the University of Calicut plans to agitate against the transfer of the syndicate to strictly enforce the instructions for the University Grants (UGC) on the appointment of members of the faculty in their institutions.
According to TK Badariyya, a conference of consortium of self -financial teachers, the syndicate at his meeting on March 20 decided that only those who cleaned the National UGC (NET) as members of the Faculty in self -financing universities. She said that the order was then issued on April 10. “There are many experienced teachers at these universities who are now in position to clean up the UGC network. We ask the authorities to give them an exception. Also, those who can clean the exam will get the next time to do it,” she added. The consortium also requires that self -financing teachers to be represented in the University of Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council. On Tuesday (April 15, 2025), they accept the march on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) to support these requirements.
However, Vice -President P. Ravendran told Hindu on Sunday that the decision was to ensure academic quality. Some of these universities were looking for autonomous status. This step towards the promotion of UGC instructions was in accordance with the provisions of the Act on Education and non -teaching employees in the Kerala Self funding College Act, he added.
In a letter to the university authorities, the chairman of the TP Mujeeb Consorty said that the decision would affect thousands of teachers who have long worked for modest salaries. He pointed out that according to UGC, 2018, if people with UGC-Net, M PhD and PhD may be people who have gained 55% of stamps in postgraduate tests for universities. Act 2021 also approved by the Assembly provided the teachers a time frame to delete tests. Mr Mujeeb claimed that the university order also mentioned nothing about the wages of teachers. He said that nearly one third of the exam and the evaluators of responses to the university were one of the self -financing of universities that had never been able to do in their duties. The consortium required the university to take a command.
