Security will be reduced on Friday in the Cuddalore district, when the vineyaka will be discarded in a procession from various places throughout the district for immersion.
The police said that about 1,373 idols maintained in public places will be immersed at 12 designated places, including Devanampatinam and the banks of the Paravanar and Collides and water points throughout the district. Of these, 1310 idols and remaining Saturdays would be immersed on Friday.
The police came up with a security plan that more and Saturday would be deployed by more than 2,000 employees led by Superintendant S. Jeyakumar, two other police representatives and 11 police representatives.
Cuddalore would be published patrols with a number of tracking cameras deployed to monitor movements. Police staff would be deployed at important intersections, sensitive places, controls and places of worship.
The immersion was only allowed for approved days, routes and vehicles. Supervisory cameras and a temporary arrangement made for immersion of idols were installed on submersible points. Breaks of biscuits during the procession or on site of immersion would not be allowed. The slogans stimulating the municipal disharmony were banned, the police said.
