Security agency owner alleges kidnapping, robbery of ₹1.09 million
The Madanayakanahalli police registered a case after a 41-year-old man alleged that he and his driver were kidnapped at knifepoint and robbed of ₹1.09 million in cash by a gang of seven unidentified men in suburban Bengaluru.
According to the complaint filed by Shiva Shankar, a resident of Dasanapura Hobli and owner of a security agency, he was involved in a business venture with associates from Andhra Pradesh, including persons identified as Mohammed Pavlaj, Jipson and Aleem. The group allegedly engaged in investment-related trading through the company
In his complaint, Shiva Shankar said he received ₹35 lakh in cash from associates based in Andhra Pradesh on June 13 and kept the money at his residence. Two days later, on 15 June, he allegedly received another ₹74 million at a hotel in Yelahanka and transported the cash in his car along with his driver Chethan.
At around 11.05 pm, while they were traveling outside Kunigal Road in Madanayakanahalli police limits, their vehicle allegedly intercepted a bike and a car. A gang of seven unknown men armed with knives and beer bottles allegedly threatened the couple, forced them out of the car and kidnapped them.
The complainant alleged that the gang confiscated their mobile phones, threatened them and demanded money. The accused allegedly forced him to contact his wife and instruct her to hand over ₹35 lakh kept at home. The cash was subsequently withdrawn by some gang members, he claimed.
Shiva Shankar further claimed that the gang also spent ₹74 crore that was in the car, taking the total amount looted to ₹1.09 crore. The accused later abandoned the victims and fled the scene.
Acting on the complaint, the Madanayakanahalli police registered a case under Section 140(2) (abduction/kidnapping) and 310(2) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Efforts are on to identify and trace the seven accused persons.
