
The collector Tirvallur on Sunday (April 6, 2025) published advice for all shops and commercial facilities in the district to display its names in Tamil according to the rules of 1 May 2025.
“Tamil should be the first and primary language to be prominently displayed in the title. English is the second and, if necessary, a third language can be displayed,” said the official edition of the district collector.
“If trades and commercial facilities were violated, the fine would be imposed according to the Tamil Nadu Act of 1947 and the rules of Tamil Nadu Shops and Pronacherments,” she said.
The collector Tirvallur also ordered the city and rural local authorities in the district to ensure that shops and commercial facilities in their relevant jurisdiction showed their names in Tamil in the names.
