“The ongoing struggle for the rights of the second auxiliary nurses of the midwife (ANMS) under the National Health Mission (NHM) will persist until the government has fulfilled its promises,” said the prosecutor of General Secretary M. Zarasimha the whole Indian trade union congress (aituc). At the protest, which took place here on Thursday, April 3, he criticized the administration for failing to make the second anm provided, despite repeated obligations.
The second ANM is contractual healthcare workers appointed within NHM to help care for the health of mothers and children, immunization and other public health programs, especially in rural areas. Unlike ordinary ANMs who are often stable, the second ANM is usually hired temporarily or contractual basis to strengthen health services in high demand.
During the protest, Mr. Narasimha emphasized several ANM promises, including 100% gross salary, seven -month -old PRC arrears and 10 Lakh health insurance. He stressed that these benefits, which were promised to workers, must still be realized.
He recalled that during the discussions of 17 February, the Commissioner for Health and Family Care assured that the seven -month -old PRC arrears would be removed by March 31. However, he pointed out that these fees remain unpaid. “The PRC was announced in 2020 and implemented on June 11, 2021, but the salary increase was only used seven months later. Despite multiple assurances, the waiting arrears were not resolved,” he said.
