The Indian Airport Team (AAI), which closed the inspection of three places that was identified for the second international Airport Greenfield in Bengalur, according to the Minister of Infrastructure Development, MB belongs on Thursday within one month.
Mr. Patil said that the AAI team inspected the places, two of which are on the road Kanakapura and one on the road Nelamangala-Kunigal.
After receiving the feedback from the AAI team, he said that a feasibility report would be prepared, after which a detailed study will be conducted by expert consultants specializing in the development of airport infrastructure.
“On this basis, the government will complete the place for the airport,” said Mr. Patil.
Many factors in the game
He added that various factors would be taken into account and consultants would study parameters such as the location of the airport, the passenger load, the freight load, the availability, among other things, the final nod.
The second Airport for Bengaluru could only happen after the agreement between the Bangalore Ltd. International Airport, which is the operator of the International KEVEGOWDA (KIA) Airport and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
According to the agreement, no airport can operate at an air distance of 150 km Kia before its 25th anniversary, which will drop in May 2033.
“If we start preparing now, the second airport could be formed by 2030 and the operation could start by 2033. Otherwise, even by 2040 the new airport does not have to take place,” he said.
Sir
While the state government has identified three places around Bengalur for the second airport, about 42 legislators led by the leader of the TB veteran Congress Jayacander proposed in the district of Tumacur as a place.
Mr. Jayacandra, who is MLA for Sir, who is about 120 km from Bengalur, along with other legislators, wrote the main minister Siddaramaiaha and urged him to establish the airport there.
In the letter they quoted the proximity of Sir to the new hall factory in Tumacur testing and DrDdo in Challake.
“It’s not viable”
The reaction to this Patil said that the establishment of Greenfield International Airport in Sir is not viable and there could be built airports at the district level.
“The airport could be built at the district level, but it will not be an international airport. Only soil allocation will not happen,” said Mr. Patil.
“Ideal location between Bengaluru and Mysur”
Aviation Expert Devesh Agarwal said that the ideal placement for the second airport should be between Bengalur and Mysur.
“The airport must be placed on the site that contributes to the stated state government policies, especially the industrial and food sector. With regard to this, we need the best place between Bengalur and Mysur,” said Mr. Agarwal.
He added that having an airport south of Bengalur would take care of the population living in the part of the city, which now had to travel to Devanahali, which was located in the northern part of Bengalur.
“If the Karnataka government opens another international airport north of Bengalur or northwest from Bengalur, the Tamil government will certainly find justification that will open the airport in Hosur and around it, as the 150 km rule will expire to 2033,” he added.
