A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested after a mass shooting at Seattle’s annual Bite of Seattle food festival left three dead and at least four others injured, including a 2-year-old boy, authorities said Monday.
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said the teenager is being held in juvenile detention on suspicion of firearms violations and first-degree assault. The suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Monday afternoon.
Police are still searching for a second suspect believed to be involved in the shooting.
Police believe the suspects exchanged gunfire
Investigators believe the two suspects were shooting at each other when several bystanders were caught in the crossfire.
Seattle Police Deputy Chief Tyrone Davis said officers do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public, although one suspect remains at large.
“We’re still trying to figure it out,” Davis said, adding that police do not yet have a description of the second suspect.
The shooting erupted around 6:00 p.m. Sunday during the final hours of the three-day Bite of Seattle festival held near the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus.
Three killed, including a woman; a toddler among the injured

Hospital officials said the three adult victims had been released.
Police have not said whether any of the victims were involved in the confrontation between the suspects.
One suspect arrested at the scene, the other fled
Authorities said dozens of officers were already providing security at the popular festival when the gunfire rang out.
Some officers witnessed one suspect firing a gun. That suspect surrendered at the scene and was taken into custody, while the other suspect fled.
A large police response ensued, with officers evacuating the Seattle Center campus while emergency crews treated the victims.
Candlelight vigil
Vendors returned on Monday to clear abandoned food stalls after fleeing during the shooting.
A candlelight vigil to honor the victims was planned for Monday evening at Seattle’s International Fountain.
Started in 1982, the Bite of Seattle Festival is one of the city’s largest annual events, attracting around 350,000 visitors each year. Authorities continue to investigate a motive for the shooting while searching for a second suspect.
