
New Delhi: The day after the Indian Super League (ISL) announced that it detained the season 2025–26 on Saturday for uncertainty about the renewal of the main rights agreement (MRA), it must also be on Saturday under the Land Act Act.The current MRA between AIFF and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), which operates ISL, will expire 8 December this year – to which the league will be well in its third month.On Friday, FSDL said that without a confirmed contractual framework after December, it was unable to “effectively plan, organize or commercialize the Isl 2025-26 season” and decided to suspend the season.In response to this, AIFF issued a statement that it would make any effort to ensure the continuity of the league in accordance with legal obligations.“The AIFF is aware of the importance of Isl not only for the country’s football structure, but also for all clubs, players, supporting staff, officials and fans, as well as acknowledging the challenges and difficulties showing due to its disruption.The AIFF, which worked on the Directive from the Supreme Court, was instructed not to complete any new conditions of MRA with the FSDL until the Court of Justice was to launch its judgment in the event that it concerns the proposal of the AFF Constitution.AIFF explained that the discussion with the FSDL began in time and the proposals were exchanged, but further negotiations were suspended according to the court order.“According to the main rights of the Federation of the whole India in time, in time, the process of requiring negotiations on the conditions of potential renewal with FSDL on November 21, 2024. On the basis of this Agreement FSDL applies AIFF RS 50 Crore per year in exchange for broadcasting, management and commercialization of Indian football, including the national team.This funding was vital to AIFF operational and development efforts.FSDL previously informed the owner of the ISL club verbally that the next season will not start until the MRA situation is resolved.According to previous reports, PTI FSDL is also considering creating a new Holding company for the ISL management, with ownership divided between participating clubs (60 %), FSDL (26 %) and AIFF (14 %).
