
At Mumba TT, she provided the fourth and last semifinals with a 10-5 victory over TTC Dabang Delhi in the final season of seasonal table tennis (UTT) in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
While the defeat ended Delhi’s winning run, they still ended up on top of the league table with 44 points.
Both teams wore black bracelets and watched a minute of silence before they started to respect the victims of the tragedy of the Ahmedabad crash.
Lilian Bardet gave a perfect start at Mumba TT and defeated Sathiyan Gnanasecaran 2-1 in a rubber for the opening singles. After detaining the close first game 11-10 Bardet dropped the second 4-11, but strongly replied with 11-4 victories in the referee.
Bernadette Szocs followed with 2-1 victories over Diya Chitale. Chitale took the first game 11-3, but Szocs equalized the close victory of 11-10 Golden Point and closed the match 11-8.
Momentum transferred to the mixed doubles, where Szocs connected with Akash Pal to beat the Izaac Queka and Diy Chitale in the opening game and confirm the place at the Mumba in the semifinals. Delhi, however, bounced back and won the remaining two games and then the match.
ABHINANDH PB added two more points for Mumba with 2-1 victories over the Singapore’s Iszaac Queek. Abhinandh, at his first performance of the season, started strongly and took the first two games before Izaac pulled one back with 11-7 victories, enough to take Dabang Delhi to the top of the table.
In the final rubber, Yashaswini Ghorpad defeated her teammate from the 2023 Suhana Saini 3-0 World Championship and won two tight games at the Golden Point before closing the 11-3 match.
Szocs raised a double honor of a foreign player and a shot of ties, while Yashaswini was named Indian player of the tie.
Dabang Delhi will now face the patriots of Jaipur in the first semifinals, while the ruling champions of the Dempo Goa Challengers will accept Mumba TT in the second.
The winners of the relevant ties will compete in the large finals of June 15.
