
Students, police officials, education leaders, mental health professionals and industry representatives at the launch of Suraksha Kavach – College Women Safety & Well-being Handbook in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The Cyberabad Society Safety Council (SCSC) has launched Suraksha Kavach – College Women Safety & Well-being Handbook, a comprehensive initiative to enhance student safety, mental well-being, drug awareness and responsible campus culture through student-led clubs and participation.
The program was launched in the presence of senior police officers, education leaders, mental health professionals, industry representatives and students with a focus on building safer and more inclusive learning environments.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh emphasized the importance of open communication, emotional well-being, disciplined lifestyle and active community involvement in addressing stress, isolation and substance abuse among the youth. He reiterated that the police are taking strict action against drug networks while urging students not to hesitate to seek support from teachers, families and mentors.
During the interaction, faculty member Varalaxmi emphasized that awareness programs must be complemented with regular discussion forums.
Actor-director-writer Rahul Ravindran spoke about the dangers of addiction, peer pressure and unhealthy coping mechanisms and urged students to focus on constructive goals and positive influences while actively participating in initiatives like Suraksha Kavach.
Telangana Council of Higher Education Chairman Balakista Reddy stressed the responsibility of educational institutions in ensuring the welfare of students, stressed the need for mental health support systems, anti-decay measures and strong institutional security frameworks.
K. Srujana emphasized the importance of implementing the guidelines of the Anti-Drug Commission, strengthening student safety clubs and ensuring strict adherence to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) frameworks in educational institutions.
