The South Central Railway Hyderabad division operated 123 festival special trains this month and year out of 973 specials operated by the zone and a total of 4.8 million passengers traveled in and out through regular, express, passenger and special trains, said Divisional Railway Manager Santosh Kumar Verma.
During a recent media interaction at Nizamabad railway station, he said that Indian Railways plans to run more than 12,000 special trains to facilitate passengers during Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals across the country.
Additional train stops have been provided at Lingampalli, Hi-tech City, Charlapalli and Malkajgiri to reduce the load on the important terminals of Hyderabad city. Joint teams of officers and supervisors from departments like Operations, Commercial, RPF, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering and S&T have been formed for continuous monitoring at the stations during peak hours.
Additionally, the railway madad war rooms/cells have been strengthened. Catering stalls at the stations have been notified to handle the additional request. Checks have been carried out to prevent cases of overcharging and unauthorized falconry, he added in a press release.
