The Aizawl district in Mizoram has been seriously influenced by mud, landslides, rocks and other related calamities due to torrential rainfall in the last few days. In response, the AIZawl disaster authority ordered all the heads of schools in the district to maintain their institutions on Monday 2 June to ensure the safety of students and employees.
Mizoram, especially aizawl, has been experiencing continuous rain since the end of May. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the region was facing a slight to severe rainfall, while Aizawl had been getting over 60 mm rain in recent days. The persistent downpours have led to more landslides, motorway blocking and disturbance of normal life. Although no victims have been reported in the Aizawl district itself due to these landslides, the Assam building was swept by landslide in the village of Mauchar near the state border with Assam and Manipur. The District Administration carefully monitors the situation and issues warnings to the inhabitants in vulnerable areas.
IMD The prognosis continued in severe to very strong precipitation over Mizoram and other northeast countries until June 3, accompanied by storms and impact winds. This weather pattern is part of the ongoing southwestern monsoon, which brought extensive floods and landslides of the soil after northeast India.
The wider northeast area was seriously influenced by monsoon rains. At the weekend, perennial downpours caused lightning floods and landslides and required at least 30 lives across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagalan. Assam’s capital, Guwahati, witnessed a deadly landslide who buried several houses and killed five people, including three members of one family. Floods caused power outages and forced closure of the school in many parts of the state. Nine people died in Arnacal Pradesh as a result of the flood and drowning of the incidents, while Mizoram reported eight landlord and flood deaths.
The authorities throughout the region issued a warning of floods and perform rescue and auxiliary operations. The Indian army was actively involved in the evacuation of the population from areas affected by floods, especially in manipure, where the water stopped everyday life. Several districts were declared vulnerable to other floods and landslides due to saturated soils and continuing precipitation.
In Aizawl, the closure of schools 2 is a preliminary measure that will prevent any risk to students in the middle of dangerous conditions. T
