IMD releases orange alert in Kerala
The announcement comes when the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) placed several districts of the southern state under an orange warning and expected heavy rainfall. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakula and Thrissur are under the radar of the weather agency.
IMD predicted thunderstorms with light to medium rainfall, along with surface winds reaching up to 40 km/h. Mild rainfall with winds up to 30 km/h is also expected in isolated places in the districts of Malappuram and Kozhikode.
