The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday a holiday for government and government schools from 8 to 18 October, allowing teachers involved in the ongoing social and educational survey, known as “Caste Survey”, to complete their work.
Siddaramaiah said that the survey will be completed within eight working days by 18 October. However, teachers involved in medium -term exams will be exempt from the survey.
Why did the Karnatak government announce a 10 -day holiday?
The survey was to be completed on Tuesday. Given the delay in work in many districts, however, the main minister and his colleagues from the cabinet decided to extend the next 10 days.
“We were supposed to end (survey work) on October 7. However, in some districts the survey is almost completed, while in some districts it lagged,” said the main minister of the reporter after meeting with ministers and officials.
“For example, in the Koppal district, 97 % of the survey was completed. The survey was 63 and 60 % in the UDUS and Dakshina Kannada districts. The survey was not completed throughout the state,” he explained.
The main minister also announced compensation £20 Lakh for three employees who died during the survey.
Karnataka ‘Caste Survey’
According to PTI, the survey will see up to 1.75 Lakh teaching, mostly teachers of government schools who cover about 7 people Crore in approximately 2 Crore households throughout the state.
Survey for estimated costs £420 crore, according to officials, is carried out “scientifically” with a questionnaire 60 questions prepared for exercise. The Commission is expected to submit its report to the government by the end of December.
According to officials, each household will be marked with its electricity number and a unique household ID (UHID) will be assigned.
During the data collection process, additional cards and Aadhaar details will be associated with mobile numbers. For those who are not at home and solve complaints during the survey, a dedicated line number (8050770004) was set up. Citizens can also participate online, they added.
